In Michoacán and Veracruz there was an open call for children’s drawings between 2011 and 2015. The theme, “Draw the place where you live”, gave rise to devastating accounts of shootings and kidnappings. These drawings, together with images of Mexico’s most violent cities (Sinaloa, Ciudad Juárez, Michoacán, Veracruz, Guerrero, Nayarit, Tamaulipas, Jalisco, Nuevo León) taken from Google Street View, were used by Raúl Kalesnik (Mexico City, 1986) to put together his project “The Place Where I live”, which earned him the first prize in the fourth edition on NexoFoto, thus shedding light on the violence faced daily by the children of his country
