Jaime Urdiales was born in Spain in 1994 and currently works and lives in London. He grew up in a small town surrounded by mountains (Losar De la Vera).
The tranquility of his first years of life in the countryside and his passion for cinema made him idealize the lifestyle presented by classic Hollywood cinema. When he was 18 years old he moved to Madrid to study fine arts at the Rey Juan Carlos University (2018) and also began to travel the world.
He soon began to develop a deep appreciation for human interaction and the complexity of the urban life that he had embraced. The city that will most mark his work is Miami and the most present feeling in his painting is nostalgia. The development of the themes is strongly influenced by irony and a sense of humor.
Jaime Urdiales is an artist who has captivated the contemporary art scene with his unique approach and passion for rescuing the past through his representations of abandoned neon signs and signs. His work is a reflection of his desire to preserve the visual history of urban streets and to highlight the ephemeral beauty of objects that go unnoticed in everyday life.
Through his art, Urdiales manages to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Each of its neon signs and forgotten signs become an ode to nostalgia and the vibrant energy of cities. His works transport us to a time and place where these flashing lights and bright letters were elements
iconic of urban life.
From its beginnings to date, Jaime’s work has been exhibited in the United States, Europe and Asia.
His first solo show took place in New York in 2022 “After the Storm” at GuyHepner, a collection made up of seven works that laid the foundation for what would be an important topic for his later career; Neon signs and advertising present in the western urban environment. This successful presentation then opened a bond between the artist and the American market.
